Special occasion dress worn by Mary Sellars Brightwell ca 1935 when she attended Richland High School in Pulaski County Missouri. The dress is made of a very light fabric, possibly gauze. It has lace around the neck and shirring in the front. The midriff is made of three rows of lace. It has short sleeves with a bit of a puff in them. The bias cut skirt has two row of lace. The dress has a sash. A plain off-white bias cut slip goes under this dress

Partial envelop and slip of paper containing handwriting. Slip of paper is imprinted with words, "General Time Corporation 109 Lafayette Street-New York 13, N.Y." Envelope is imprinted with return address: "Advertising Department American Bankers Association ___East 36th Street New York 16, N.Y." and the address typewritten on the envelope reads: "Mr. F.C. Bentley 1310 Washington Avenue Springfield, Missouri." Envelope is postmarked "New York N.Y. Feb-9 '55 U.S. Postage 03"

Part of the wedding ensemble worn by Helen Ramona Black when she married Edward Burney Staley in Springfield, Missouri on October 23, 1937. This is possibly some kind of headwear. It is made of netting and lace. It is approximately 17 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide. It is edged in pink ribbon and has a bow from the same ribbon close the the edge of either end. The center is decorated with gold, pink and green thread and light green ribbon rosettes.

Sepia photograph of church members in front of the First Baptist Church in Ash Grove on February 9, 1919. On the back is written: Grace Wilson / Ash Grove / Missouri / taken February 9, 1919 / Received February 23, 1919. Church is white clapboard with " Baptist Church " over door. 5 X 7 inches on 8 X 10 inch cardboard. Paper emulsion affixed to thick cardboard backing / sepia. Machine made.

Photo copy of a certified copy of the original birth certificate of Edward Burney Staley, born February 28, 1912 in Marionville, Lawrence County, Missouri. His father was Burch Staley, who was 31 at the time of Edward's birth. His mother's maiden name was Birdie Burney and she was 24 at the time of Edward's birth. They lived in Willard. The official copy was issued January 17, 1972.

A Candle Set on a Stand, A History of First Christian Church, Springfield, Missouri (1834-1919) by Richard Taylor Gardner assisted by Arthur Paul Moser and Disciples of Christ Historical Society, Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Gardner's family were long-time members of First Christian Church, Springfield, MO which became South Street Christian Church.

White net or gauze special occasion dress worn by Mary Sellars Brightwell at the age of 17 when she attended Richland High School in Pulaski County, Missouri. The dress is long and is decorated around the bottom with needle work. The waistband is a band of lace with needle work. . The same type of lace needlework is also at the bottom of the short sleeves and around the v-neck. It closes in the back with twenty hooks and eyes.

Articles that were part of the wedding ensemble of Helen Ramona Black for her wedding to Edward Burney Staley which took place on October 23, 1937, in Springfield, Missouri. These articles include a small sprig of white artificial flowers tied with pink ribbon. Four white ribbons, approximately 18 inches long, and a band of white netting approximately 130 inches long by five inches wide.

Colt patent Navy revolver #122926, 36 calibre, made at the Samuel Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Co. in 1862. Issued by Union Army Quartermaster General, St. Louis, to Col. Henry Sheppard, 72nd Reg., Enrolled Missouri Militia. He had been in the 16th MO Volunteers.

Black and white photogtaph of First Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri. Brick building with limestone foundation. View of front. Large stained glass window in center with round windows above it in the gable. Entry is at the right under the steeple and appears to have a wrought iron gate across it. Part of the street is paved with bricks and the street car tracks may divide in front of church. A man is walking on sidewalk. Measurements/Size: 3 1/4" x 4 1/4". Material/Color: Emulsion on paper affixed to cardboard, sepia tone. Emulsion peeling off paper. Machine made.

Stoplight in center of intersection with man leaning on it, possibly controlling it. Missouri US 66 sign attached to stoplight. It may be a portable stoplight brought in for the occasion. Springfield-Conway marathon on Route 66. Colonial Hotel on left side of street in photo.

Black and white photo of George and Eliza Bedell Crittendon with their two sons and 6 daughters. Crittendon is seated holding a hat and Eliza is seated at his left. At his right is his son Roy. Crittendon escaped from slavery in AR, fought in the Union Army with Company H, 2nd Missouri Light Artillery, and was in the Battle of Wilson's Creek. He later worked for the Springfield Wagon Company. RESTRICTED ACCESS. DO NOT USE WITHOUT PERMISSION.

This wedding dress was worn by Mollie Chalfant Sellars, mother of Mary Sellars Brightwess on December, 1915, when she was married to Guy Sellars at Chalfant Family Farm outside of Richland, Missouri in Pulaski County. The dress if off-white and the fabric may be crepe. It has an inset of net and needlework above the bodice with a collar of the same netting. The sleeves come just above the elbow and are gathered with elastic. The dress in one-piece but is made to look two-piece. The belt at the waist is made of the same fabric as most of the dress. There is one box pleat in the skirt front and one knife pleat in the back.

Black and white photograph of the Charles and Frank Service Station as well as the J.P. Cantrell Oil Company office; Grant Avenue and Commercial Street. There are seventeen men in the picture as well as one woman. Thirteen of the men are dressed in service station uniforms. There are six oil trucks and four passenger cars in the photograph. There are four Veedol gasoline pumps Along Grant Avenue is a Missouri U.S. 160 highway marker. There are two gasoline storage tanks. Along Grant ave. is an entrance to a subway.

Pocket watch #1343542 that belonged to Jacob Warren Garton, made of silveroid. Garton was born in Greene Co. in 1862 on his parents farm in Wilson township. He attended township schools and high school in Springfield. He later went to the Marionville Collegiate Institute and a business school in Springfield. He farmed in Greene Co, his farm called The Rainbow Farm.

Black and white photo, side view of the old livery stable and Springfield Gas and Electric Co. manufactured gas storage tank. There is a base which the tank was fitted into. Along the side of the metal base are stair steps that lead up to a walkway around the base. The sign on one of the storage tanks reads, " Cook with Gas " The cement block building reads " Seaman Coal, Cement and Sand, Phone 579 " On the storage bins are several advertisements that read, " Faultless Starch, Yeast Foam, K C. Baking Powders, and Celuloid Startch" Near these storage bins is a corrigated iron building. The Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks can be seen along the Seaman Coal Company.

Snapshot taken at 7:00 am , looking west on St. Louis St. at the Trans-Continental Foot Race (or Bunion Derby) participants. This section of the race was from Springfield to Conway, MO. Stoplight in center of intersection with man leaning on it, possibly controlling it. Missouri US 66 sign attached to stoplight and an oval sign under it with number 16 on it. The stoplight may be a portable one brought in for the race on Route 66. Sign on Gillioz marquee says: "TONITE/THURMANS/ORCHESTRA". Numbers on back of picture 1-13/p8-273/CP8-272. Colonial Hotel on left of photo.

Photo copy of of a copy of the marriage license of Edward Byrney Staley and Helen Ramona Black which took place in Springfield on October 23, 1937. The minister was C.F. Green, Loyd I. Miller was recorder of deeds and Doris Steury was deputy. The marriage license was filed on November 5, 1937. The official copy, from which this photo copy was made, was made February 2, 1972, Russell H. Keller was recorder of Deeds and Evelyn Ball was deputy.
